As part of the German-Ugandan Young Farmer Exchange, Shafic Kuguli is supporting us at our experimental station in Berge and gaining important experience for implementation in Uganda. Shafic already has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and wants to implement new projects in agriculture in Uganda after his internship in Germany. He is receiving a research scholarship within the framework of the International Young Farmers' Exchange Program (IYFEP).
About the programme: The International Young Farmers' Exchange Program (IYFEP) with Uganda is a two-way exchange in which Ugandan young farmers come to Germany for three months and interested Germans go to Uganda for three months to learn and live on a farm.
"I'm Shaffic Kiguli, a practicing farmer from Uganda with a bachelor's in Agricultural sciences with interests in Agriculture field experimental tasks as well as machine operation. I'm so happy to be at the institute for the next 3 months through the International Young Farmers' Exchange Program and strongly believe that IASP-Berge is a perfect match as its farm operations directly match my major learning interests, this is a great opportunity to learn about Germany's farming system as well exchange about the Ugandan farming system, thereafter I hope to implement the learned lessons on my return to Uganda so as to create a big positive impact to farmer communities as well as generate income for sustainability."
